Configuring IMAP for iPhone Sync with Microsoft Exchange 2003 - Clustered Configuration
Each node in the cluster will need the IMAP4 service enabled with a startup type of Manual. The front-end IMAP service will need startup type of Automatic.
On the clusterd back-end you need to open up the cluster admin GUI and add IMAP4 as a new resource. Make sure you have enabled the IMAP4 service on every node in the cluster and set the startup type to Manual.
Put the Exchange IMAP4 Service in the Exchange Cluster Group. Add the System Attendant a dependant to this service.
Configuring Exchange 2003 IMAP Virtual Server SSL(port 993):
If you don't have an Exchange front end server, make sure that the server you
use for IMAP contains the mailbox’s that you want to sync up with the iPhone.
Note, if you have multiple back-end servers with no front-end then you will
need to either designate one of your back-end servers as your IMAP4 service
provider and house all your iPhone users on that server or you will need to
direct each iPhone user to their homed
Exchange server. In this case it is recommended
practice to use a front-end server as it will locate which server your users
mailbox resides on and proxy the IMAP session to that server. If you do have a
front-end make sure the back-end server/servers are configured with an IMAP
Virtual server and are started. Then configure the front-end IMAP Virtual
server to use SSL.
