How to Properly Shutdown Your Computer When Going Away

1. Perform the standard Start>Shutdown procedure.

2. Wait until the computer shuts down completely.

3. Turn off your monitor.

4. Unplug ALL the cable from the back of your computer EXCEPT the power cable. Wait 5 minutes for the static discharge to dissipate.

5. After 5 minutes, unplug the power cable to your computer

6. Unplug the power cable for your monitor

7. Unplug the power cables for any other peripherals (printers, etc.)
